Not long But Neither Was The Game
Match 20 and we were just behind Pool in the race for promotion facing Follifoot at home. They had won the away fixture by 2 wickets in a high scoring match with KECC ending on 227.
Today was not to be another high scoring match.
KECC won the toss and chose to bat, unfortunately when extras at 26 are the top scorers it is not your day! Steve Townsend took 6 wickets for Follifoot and that was the only highlight to be recorded on the match report (apart from fielding points…). KECC limped to 96 in 27.2 overs with most wickets going cheaply, although Tom Mileham did go down to a good caught and bowled.
Follifoot started their innings on 72 overs steadily, before their opening pair where dismissed by Adam Hussain (caught behind P Bennett) and Steve Watkins (caught Tom Mileham). The next two wickets (getting us one more point) being cleaned bowled by Steve Watkins and Will Watson. However, that wasn’t enough to stop them knocking off 97 in 19.4 overs.
Eddie Thirlwell (or was it Tom Mileham?!!!) tried hard in the field with yet another fielding point. As did Bobby Ingham whose dad Lee certainly didn’t deserve one after missing a catch off his sons bowling. Well done Deights for being vocal in the field and Paul for donning the wicket keepers gloves again despite not being able to walk again for 4 days last week. Super sandwiches Watty – looking forward to Adam’s mums tea on 12th.
Shame we weren’t at full force despite Liam’s efforts as with Pool losing to Calverley it could have been vital points this week.
